Apple iPad 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 both are high performance tablets from Apple and Samsung. Apple iPad 2 is powered Dual-core Apple A5 1 GHz Processor whereas Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is powered with Nvidia Tegra 2 Dual Core 1 GHz Processor. Basically both use equivalent processors with different architecture. But RAM is higher in Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 than iPad 2 thus Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 may perform better than iPad 2. iPad 2 is powered with Apple Proprietary operating system Apple iOS 4.3 whereas Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is powered with open source tablet optimized Android operating system 3.0 Honeycomb.
Speed, Performance and User Experience
As discussed above Apple iPad 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab both use 1 GHz dual core processors with 512 M and 1 GB RAM respectively. But Processor design architecture and operating system performances are difference in each other. So it’s difficult to compare Apple and Orange (Samsung) as configuration point of view. But the real performance difference and User Experience would be impacted by the difference between Apple iOS and Android 3.0 Honeycomb. User experience depends on UI and applications. Apple Applications are from Apple App Store and Android Applications are from Android Market. Samsung says their batter last long 15 hrs whereas Apple claims 10 hrs.
Apple iPad 2
Apple iPad 2 is the second generation iPad fro Apple. Apple the pioneers in introducing the iPad have made further improvements to iPad 2 in design and performance. The additional features in iPad 2 are the dual cameras – rare camera with gyro and 720p video camcorder, front facing camera with FaceTime for video conferencing, a new software PhotoBooth, HDMI compatibility – you have to connect to HDTV via Apple digital AV adapter that comes separately. iPad 2 will have variants to support both 3G-UMTS network and 3G-CDMA network and will release the Wi-Fi only model also. iPad 2 is available in black and white colors and the price varies depending the model and storage capacity, it ranges from $499 to $829. Apple also introduces a new bendable magnatic case for iPad 2, named as Smart Cover, which you can purchase separately.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Model P7100)
Galaxy Tab 10.1 features a 10.1 inches WXGA TFT LCD display (1280×800), Nvidia dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 8 megapixel rear and 2 MP front facing cameras and powered by Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
